1939 (3rd June) "Guba II" flying boat large opened out cover with Aust 1d QM tied by Rose Bay cds over 1937 meter mark (recycled cover). Seychelles 6ยข added en route tied by Victoria JU 17 39 cds & KUT 20c, 50c & 1/- KGVI franking for Kisumu (Kenya) registration for returning to Port Moresby, Papua. It appears this unconventional piece of mail may have been a last minute "souvenir" created by someone who was know or helped the "Guba" whilst the mission was in progress. This flight was the forerunner for the long range Catalina "Double Sunrise" service in 1943. Mixed cond but full of character & unusual. AAMC 866, Cat. $950
