Welcome to our first auction for 2024. We have worked intensely to produce this catalogue in time for the annual 2024 Perth Stamp & Coin Show which is being held from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th March where we will have a range of lots for viewing. With $530,000 in reserves and 2930 lots, we are grateful to the 60+ vendors who have assigned their material for this "mega" auction over 2 days.

This auction heralds the return of Coins and Banknotes on Saturday morning with numerous lots suitable for the both the collector looking for a bargain or the re-seller. With many RAM and Perth Mint modern issues available at less than their original cost or reserved at just above bullion value, there is plenty of potential (lots 1-394).

The ever-popular box lots number 67 and give all local collectors an opportunity to occupy their winter nights in the months ahead! Once again, the World and Australian Collections give all collectors a chance to add to an existing collection or, begin a new field of interest, and with reserves from just $30, there is something to suit every budget.

Kangaroo and KGV collectors are spoilt for choice with numerous accumulations and collections with that possible "Gem in the rough". (692-806) There is an interesting range of Zeppelin covers (978-996) in the Airmail section while savings against retail can be made in the Literature and Accessories lots (997-1014).

Western Australian material continues to be assigned, from not only local Perth collectors, but also from interstate and abroad. We are privileged to offer additional material from the Brian Pope collection plus more lots from the Barrett-Lennard family. We admit there is duplication, but this allows you to choose the right lot for you and with several "priced to condition" lots, this is a marvelous opportunity to fill that high catalogued gap that other auction houses rarely offer.

This auction is very strong in not only kangaroo and KGV single lots (1399-1972) but also Officials with our largest offering yet (1973-2159). Highlights include the 4d olive KGV, Plate 3, SMW perf 14 selvedge block of 36 perfined "OS" plus 1914/20 1/4d KGV in a deep turquoise-blue shade with Drury Cert. (lot 2145). Also a lovely 1913 £1 red-brown & blue 1st wmk kangaroo with large "OS" MUH and ex Lord Cornwallis (2085). Both £2 kangaroos in the 3rd and CofA watermarks in fresh MUH condition would make perfect additions to the patient collector who has been waiting for these (1625 & 1741) as would the 1st wmk £1 brown & blue also fine MUH (1468). We have included some interesting postal history items in the pre-decimal section while the decimal lots include some of the scarcer modern issues followed by a useful group of booklets. PNC's continue to be popular and as such, we have continued to expand this section with a variety of overprints & limited editions along with Medallion covers. (2418-2505)

Great Britain is headlined by an 1840 1d black, plate 11 on West London addressed cover tied by a Maltese Cross (lot 2643) before a range of Commonwealth including the Falklands 1933 ½d to £1 Centenary set of 12 in fresh MLH condition (lot 1724), a lovely range Cape of Good Hope triangle issues (lots 2894-2805) and some fine early New Zealand (3827-2870).

As before, we have tried to include as many lots as possible in the attached colour plates but please do visit our website to view an additional 1800 images at www.acestampauctions.com

As our regulars know, we work very hard to keep our overheads down but nothing stops the increases in print costs, utilities, truck and venue hires and associated staff costs. Thus it is with regret, I have to announce an increase in the buyers premium from 12.5% to 15% plus GST. I have left this as long as possible but our expenses in the last 12 months have necessitated this increase, our first in 10 years!

In closing, we were saddened to hear about the recent passing of Robin Linke, a local legend in the WA philatelic world. Not only did he give me my first job in the stamp world, but a glowing reference that enabled me to join Stanley Gibbons London in 1990. When I returned to Perth, he was most welcoming, and it was a natural progression into the auction scene after his retirement. The circle was completed in 2022 when I bought out his remaining stock. He was a keen supporter of the "grass roots" collector and championed the cause of the local clubs, supporting many shows. He will be sadly missed, and his daughters, Rose and Michelle are a credit to him.

As always, my sincere thanks to all those vendors and bidders who not only support the auction but keep the hobby so healthy in our State. John McPhee and Trevor Lacy have once again actively assisted in the describing of this auction. Finally my ongoing gratitude to Christine for her dedication in so many roles in the business and unwavering support that keeps her full time retirement a mere dream!
