1938 (21st May) Oakland, California to Glenelg, South Australia cover posted on the final day of National Air Mail Week (15-21 May) with 75c total franking in 6c & 25c airmails. Forwarded via PanAm Trans-Pacific service FAM14 flight 108 on Philippines destined Clipper departing San Francisco on 25th May. This was subsequently involved in two incidents when the Hong Kong Feeder Service (Imperial Airways flight HB36) took over the mail & the "Dorado" caught fire just before take-off for Bangkok. The mail was then transferred to "Daedalus" for flight to Bangkok & then "Cordelia", flight IE658 but this developed mechanical problems necessitating another transfer of mail to the "Coogee". Thus an eventful journey with Hong Kong 2 JU 38, Adelaide 13 JE 38 & Melbourne 13 JE 38 b/s's. Reverse with evidence of water damage. Almost certainly unique in origin/destination for these dual events. Ex Perry
