Winston Churchill hand written note on 10 Downing Street, Whitehall letterhead reading "I am so much obliged to you for your very kind token of good luck on my birthday. Winston S Churchill." Comes in original matching 10 Downing Street envelope with London SW1 17th Dec 1954 Official Paid slogan cancel in red complete with "FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY" crown circular cachet in mauve. Typed address to Mrs Lilian Burns in Fremantle, WA. A lovely item written as he served his second term as British Prime Minister who was also then automatically First Lord of the Treasury, hence the cachet. Similar items fetching $5000++ in Europe. Highly collectable & rare with the accompanying envelope.
