1877 British Forces in Ireland - letter from London (JA 8 '77 AX) N.W.6 duplex on 1d red to Colonel Kent, Officer commanding the 77th Reg't Duke of Cambridge's Own, Cork. Backstamped Cork JA 9 '77 T.P.O. K. The Duke of Cambridge's Own used to be the East Middlesex Regiment of Foot but had been permitted in 1876 to change its name with Prince George, Duke of Cambridge, the Colonel-in-chief. Lovely postal history.
