Great Britain QV to QEII postal stationery extensive collection written up on 100's of leaves in 4 matching red flat document boxes. Box 1 opens with 1840 Mulready envelope struck with red M/C posted AUG 31 1840 followed by 1885 type PSE's mostly used, 1880 long envelope uprated with 1d Venetian red tied by Chester squared circle alongside previous day London S.W.39 duplex, an 1879 cover with London E.C. B.C.61 duplex over 2d embossed revenue, 1877 dated 1d pink unused envelope ovptd "Specimen", 1909 QV 1d pink embossed tied by Postage Stamp Exhibition & Congress Manchester addressed to Old Trafford & 1888 cover to Germany uprated with 2d pair tied by Hereford "357 duplex plus 1845, 1849 & 1856 opened out commercial items to Leith & Isle of Wight (Cowes "125"). Also 1841 1d pink with white silk thread letter shed handstamped "Specimen" in red-brown, 1876 "doubleton" with 2½d carmine added to basic 1d pink unused & an 1885 mourning cover. (55 items in this first box). The second has 180 items noting QV 2d & 3d P/S cut-outs with advertising rings of W.H.Smith, the Home News (3d carmines, used) & Smith Elder & Co (2d dull blue unused) plus KEVII to QEII with better items incl 1965 Christmas aerogramme ovptd "Specimen" & KGVI formular Prisoner of War Post envelope unused before other QEII formular embossed envs used & unused. Box 3 starts with 1896 lettercard used & unused, ditto 1893, KEVII 1d dull carmine with 3 used, 1d scarlet mint, KGV 1d used & 1½d unused, KGVI 2½d blue unused & used (2) & a 2½d red with Festival of Britain pictorial cachet. Also 1955 2½d red unused, 3d violet unused & used with both uprated 3d, 2½d uprated ½d with vertical bars & School Specimen ovpts, 4d blue in 2 types, Machin type 4d in 2 colours & 5d ditto all unused. Continues with octagonal type 2½p (uprated ½p x 2) & 3p (2), 6½p to 14p vals mainly unused, 69p reg'd letter, 1924/25 B.E.E. envelopes in both used & unused incl 1924 with pictorial Wembley Park exhibition cachets, 1p & 3p Forces Mail Airletters unused 1st class pre-paid airmail envelopes in 4 designs. (189 items). Final box contains 100 Registration envelopes & associated forms noting 1893 formular 2d ovpt "Specimen" on flap with a mix of local & international items incl 1920 doubleton on flap (2d x 2) to USA, 1945 censored 5½d to USA while others incl mint with printer's name under flap & another with curved flap (scarce) & some 1960's postcards with special cachets. This collection is offered intact from a deceased estate. Viewing will impress, not just because of the scarcity of many items, but because of the evident research & layout.
