1840 1d black, Plate 8 joined vertical strip of 8 lettered BC-BJ on South Petherton, Somerset addressed entire. Cancelled by multiple strikes of red Maltese Cross cancels with JA 22 1841 b/s. Letter contains 3 full pages of hand written testimony in this solicitor's correspondence regarding a bad debt claim illegally settled with the pre-emptive seizure of numerous goods all listed. Two filing folds vertically through the strip & uneven margins from “cut into” to parts of the adjoining stamps from above but nothing detracts from one of the largest known multiples of the Penny Black on cover.
