Brazil 1940 (25th Dec) A seaplane was wrecked while alighting in the Bay of All Saints, Bahia with the 15 occupants escaping unhurt but the mail was water soaked with the stamps missing from most articles salvaged. This example with the bold "ACCIDENTE DE AVIAPAO" s/l h/s in black next to the Sao Paulo address. This was applied at Rio de Janeiro. "S.PAULO 31 XII 40" b/s ties the repair tape. Notes accompany this cover.
