Covers 1944-1950 & 1957 Royal Geographical Society of Australasia (Qld) authorised illustrated covers with cachets applied to celebrate explorer. Incls Edmund Kennedy, Lt Col Sir Thomas Mitchell, Ludwig Leichhardt, Capt. Charles Sturt, navigator Matthew Flinders, surveyor Francis Edward Roberts who surveyed the NSW/Qld border for 215 miles from Point Danger, the Society's founder James Park Thomson & the sailing ship "Fortitude" which arrived with 206 immigrants in 1849 & gives its name to the Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley. There is some dupl but cancellations celebrating dates of arrival by explorers at different locations have been clearly applied along with information on the left of each cover. Dealer prices are generally in the $5 to $15 range for each cover. Rarely seen in this quantity. (70)
