Great Britain 1911 (11th Sept) as above but a red-brown postcard flown on the third day with a similar commem cds. Postcards have the "Instructions" printed on reverse. This example addressed to Wellington, New Zealand franked for internal ½d rate only & hence taxed with 2 diff cachets. On this day a Farman-type piloted by C. Hubert crashed because of engine failure upon take off with the plane completely destroyed & the pilot breaking both legs. Eight mailbags were recovered in good condition & placed aboard another plane. This was the first powered flight incident involving mail to Australasia & believed to be the only recorded item to Australasia. Vert fold, 2 small tears & worn cond. Ex Perry
