1934 (8th Dec) Hamburg-Amerika Linie printed env to Melbourne plus postcard from Hamburg to Mathoura, NSW with former having 65pf red meter cancel uprated on reverse with 60pf in airmails dated 6.12.34. The latter rated 65pf (a very scarce pre-war airmail postcard rate UPU 15pf postcard plus airmail surcharge 50pf). Both carried on Imperial Airways service flight IE298 which saw the Aurora damage its undercarriage at Calcutta on 13th Dec & Diana damage its tailskid on 19th Dec necessitating the transfer of part of load to Hippomenes. Melbourne 22 DE 34 & Sydney 21 DEC 1934 respective b/s's. Scarce commercial intermediates. Related to AAMC 469 (2)
