Typed address to Mr SM Wagner c/o General Delivery, Oakland, California & then re-addressed "Care CF Lienesch Union Oil Bldg. Los Angeles, California, USA" in manuscript. The same name as the sender typed top left, "CF Lienesch, 617 Union Oil Bldg., Los Angeles, Cal. U.S.A.". Incls his original typed letter on Union Oil Company of California personalised to him letterheaded paper explaining the accompanying cover "will be carried to Australia by the "Southern Cross" airplane on the first trans-Pacific flight made by man". He also explains that Kingsford Smith & Ulm have become very good friends during the preparation for this flight. Signed "C.F. Lienesch". The env is signed by Kingsford Smith & appears to have been gone over again either because the pen didn't work or he was signing on an uneven surface. Some light staining & heavy wear at left but understandably "worn". The lot is also accompanied by the 1935 Kingsford Smith bronze commemorative medal in exc untarnished cond. An exceedingly rare lot with only 4 of these covers flown on the entire journey. AAMC 122 cat. $25,000 (See front cover & Plate 2 for the accompanying letter)
