Great Britain Strike Mail An interesting collection comprising 1964 "Freedom Group Delivery Service" rouletted set of 7 to 10/- MLH, notes on the 1971 strike, 2 covers from France to Netherlands posted 2nd Feb 1971 bearing strike post 1/- /5p & 2/- /10p labels with "Inland" replaced by "International" & cancelled By Emergency Strike Post London 29Jan1971 on one cover & the other with 3/- "Europa Air Mail" green on blue label. Both covers with red circular cachet "The Great Post Office Strike" & French 40¢ & 10¢ adhesives tied by Le Havre machine cancels. Also 11th Feb cover with German 30pf tied by Frankfurt machine cancel & bearing black on orange label featuring portrait of Sir Rowland Hill inscribed Exporters Letter Service 3/- overstruck diagonally by two line "By Export Letter Service Brighton". Incls the rarely seen "People's League Delivery" set of 5 x 2 sets & 5/- ovptd "Europe 1962 Airmail" MUH with one set of 5 is rouletted as is the ovpt & the other set is rough perfd 12. To complete this interesting array is a Hagner of S/A octagonal QEII ½p to 5p types as singles or combinations, one with "Tax Free Stamp Collecting Gone Forever 31-III-1973" printed in black above & below 4p & 5p combination, singles of 3p & 3½p with marginal slogan in black "You Just Cannot Lick Self-Adhesive Stamps For Speed And Hygiene" with supplementary lower case in red "This slogan embarrasses the British Post Office and must be detached before use". This would be a perfect start to an interesting new exhibit!
