1974 London to Perth commercial A5 env addressed to Royal Perth Yacht Club, Crawley with "DELAYED EN ROUTE - AIRCRAFT HI-JACK" cachets in mauve x 3. 2 on front & one on reverse. This hijack took place on the 22nd November 1974 in Dubai when 4 terrorists took over a British Airways plane demanding the release of thirteen imprisoned terrorists in Egypt and two in the Netherlands. The Egyptian authorities claimed they were releasing the prisoners however once the Palestinians realised this was not happening they executed one of the hostages, a German banker. Has ½p, 4p & 5p Machins with London slogan cancel, typed address & in good cond. A superb piece of postal history, rarely seen.
